Natural wood bowl with yakisugui finish with coconut oil and beeswax

* Important, only for dry or decorative use. Fruit bowl for example or centerpiece. Wet use can cause the leather to deteriorate, so I only recommend dry use.

This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, washing it and finally hydrating it with oil. Cracks may appear due to the fire, but they are stabilized so they will not get worse.

When burning wood, it reaches such high temperatures that it inevitably ends up cracking. After this process, the cracks stabilize and that is when this decorative work with leather thread appears, which gives the piece a totally new entity.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The coconut oil and beeswax finish is completely suitable for food use, if applicable. Hand wash and dry, they need to be moisturized from time to time with coconut oil.

Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.
