Natural wood bowl with yakisugui finish with coconut oil and beeswax

This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, washing it and finally hydrating it with oil. Cracks may appear due to the fire, but they are stabilized so they will not get worse.

Completely burnt, it is a spectacular piece. If you want to give a unique and personal touch to your home, this piece is capable of being the point of contrast in a boring and monotonous space.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The coconut oil and beeswax finish is completely suitable for food use, if applicable. Hand wash and dry, they need to be moisturized from time to time with coconut oil.

Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.
