Natural wood bowl with yakisugui finish

This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, washing it and finally hydrating it with oil. Cracks may appear due to the fire, but they are stabilized so they will not get worse.

Fully fired, this bowl looks spectacular. In addition, this process gives it a very particular texture, a pleasure for the sight and the touch.

Just by holding it in your hands you can feel the weight and quality of the wood.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The mineral oil and beeswax finish is completely suitable for food use, if applicable. Hand wash and dry, they need to be moisturized from time to time with oil.

Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.
