Yakisugi Finish: This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it. The wood is burned, brushed, washed, and finally moisturized with oil.

Some people like perfectly straight pieces with flawless edges, while others prefer more irregular lines, according to their own whims. Perhaps you're one of the latter.
