Yakisugi Finish: This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it. It is burned, brushed, washed, and finally moisturized with oil. Due to the fire, cracks may appear; when the piece cools, the cracks stabilize and will never worsen.

I find this piece spectacular and with an innate character unlike any other. I love those cracks and that taller, more robust base. It's definitely a very special piece.
