Natural wood bowl with yakisugui finish

This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, washing it and finally hydrating it with oil. Cracks may appear due to the fire, but they are stabilized so they will not get worse.

Inspired by ancient pottery. Extra smooth finish on the inside and a little rough on the outside due to the fire, that contrast is also incredible, although to check it you will have to touch it.

The game of concave and convex lines is spectacular for me, yes, I know, it sounds exaggerated, but everyone has their obsessions.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The mineral oil and beeswax finish is completely suitable for food use, if applicable. Hand wash and dry, they need to be moisturized from time to time with oil.

Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.
