Hand-turned Sapele wood bowl
Natural wood bowl or centerpiece with yakisugui finish
This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, burning it again and finally hydrating it with oil. Due to the fire, it may crack, although these are stabilized and will not go any further.
The contrast of the black exterior with the dark, slightly reddish interior is spectacular. Without a doubt, a centerpiece or serving bowl that will not leave anyone indifferent.
The rectilinear shape is characterized by a large bevel at its base giving way to a contour that slopes inwards.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The finish (natural oil) is completely suitable for food use. If it is going to be used continuously, remember that it is good to hydrate the piece from time to time. If it is for display, it is not necessary.
Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.
Finished with multiple layers of pure Tung oil and micro sanding, smooth touch

Bowl #18 measures approx. 22cm diameter x 7cm high and 5.5cm deep
