Hand-turned European Oak wood bowl

Natural wood bowl with yakisugui finish

This is an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring it, burning it, brushing it, burning it again and finally hydrating it with oil. Cracks may appear due to the fire, but they are now stabilized so they will not get worse.

The contrast of the burnt exterior with the soft interior of the natural color of the wood seems incredible to me, and almost a metaphor for our own life.

My pieces are for food, display or decoration purposes . The finish (natural oil) is completely suitable for food use. If it is going to be used continuously, remember that it is good to hydrate the piece from time to time. If it is for display, it is not necessary.

Each piece sits proudly on the Nudo seal that is burned into the base, as a signature and seal of authenticity.

Finished with multiple layers of pure Tung oil and micro sanding, smooth touch
