02. EL PASTOR Y EL LOBO

02. THE SHEPHERD AND THE WOLF

THE SHEPHERD AND THE WOLF
“This is not the original story,
This is the real story”

Look,

The real story
The original
Aesop's
You've heard it
Many times
To the point of exhaustion
So why repeat
Something we already know

I,
I'm going to tell you another
And it may,
That it is not just a fable
A tale
Or a story
It may be as real
As life itself

And it may even,
That reality
Be able
To surpass this fiction

And the fable goes like this

...

Once upon a time there was a shepherd
Who every day
Went out to the mountains to graze
With his flock
Of merino sheep
Very white
And very pretty
With endless curls in their hair

It was well known,
That in these mountains
There lived some wolves
Fierce and voracious
Both things at the same time
And what if these Wolves
Dozens
Almost hundreds
They caught you on the way
Poor you
What they would do to you

Good,

The young shepherd,
Sometimes inept
Other times tyrant
More of the latter
Than the former

This young shepherd
It was the only thing he did in his life,
He was born among sheep
And he grew up among sheep
And out of being a shepherd
He knew little else
Not even the O with a tube,
Others around there said
But he knew the mountains
Like the back of his hand,
Roads and paths
And many shortcuts

Many days,
Many months,
Many years,
He had been walking there

And after so much time,
He discovered
That that fearsome wolf
That one so fierce and voracious
Was no longer there
Perhaps,
Extinct
Perhaps,
Had emigrated
The important thing here,
Was that the wolf was no longer there

And this young man,
Sometimes inept
And other times a tyrant
Returned to the village
And shouted to the four winds
The wolf is coming, the wolf is coming
To see how the others reacted

Everyone hid
Everyone was scared

And the young man, inside,
He liked it

The following week,
The shepherd boy before nightfall
Shouted
The wolf is coming, the wolf is coming

And everyone hid
And everyone was frightened

And the young man,
Secretly,
He butchered a sheep from his own flock
And the following morning,
He showed it to the town
As a sign of that ferocious wolf

The following week,
Again it was heard
The wolf is coming, the wolf is coming
It resounded throughout the town
And another sheep,
The young shepherd sacrificed

And every time the wolf came
The people were more terrified
What would become of them
If by eating their children
The ferocious wolf was given

Well,

The people decided,
That since the young shepherd
Was the one who knew the most about these animals
And these mountains
And these roads
That he had studied them for
So many years
And that he was able to see the wolf
In the most absolute darkness
And so be able to warn the others

They decided,
That this young shepherd,
Sometimes inept
Sometimes a tyrant
Should then have,
A privileged position in the community
It was a question of security
For all the others
What would become of them,
If something happened to the young shepherd
And he could not warn them
Of the arrival of the fearsome animal

So they took care of him,
They entertained him
They pampered him,
So that the young shepherd
Would not lack anything

And so,

The days passed,
And so the days passed months
And so the years passed

The young shepherd,
Living like a king
Screaming that the wolf is coming
When it seemed to him
A ferocious wolf,
Which no longer existed
Sacrificing his own flock
Every time the wolf came
Before a cowardly people
Who knew nothing about everything
And who also did not have the guts
To face a wolf
Which did not exist

THE END

Look,

If you can read between the lines,
As I think you do,
If not,
You wouldn't be reading this
And you'd be doing something else
Like for example
Pinching light bulbs

But as I think,
You're not one of those
I'm going to assume that you've understood
Where the shots go
And what is the moral
Of this fable
Story
Or story
Because believe me
It's more real
Than you could imagine

There are several characters
The shepherd
The shepherd's flock
The wolf
And the town

Now think,

Which one of them are you?
Because yes,
We are
You and I,
Your neighbor
And your cousin from the town,
That one too

We are a character
Of that fable
Story
Or story

And look to see,
In which part of the story
We find ourselves
And the closer to the end,
Bad business

I'll leave you thinking

Big hug!

The shepherd's flock,
Would never have one of these wonders
That's for sure

THE SHEPHERD AND THE WOLF
“This is not the original story,
This is the real story”

This fable,
It is written by Aquiles Gutiérrez
And if you like it
You can share it,
Of course
And you can also read some more

Apart from watching,
Other things I do
While I think about these stories
